In attendance: Ann McCleod, Karl Page, Augie Natal, Dana Strong, Zak Deustchendorf, Jon Hollinger and Sue Melus
Start 7:00 pm
1) Peter gave Sue the treasurer’s report in his absence: $10,739 checking
$5,776 savings
2) Ann read the Aspen Times article that described the Basalt Town Council’s plan to form a committee to discuss the shooting range. Those interested interested in serving on the committee are asked to call the Basalt Senior Planner at 927-4701. They would prefer members to be residents of Basalt.
3) The BOM discussed the issue and reiterated its interest in planning an event to give back to the community. Ideas included an open house in spring 2010 or possibly adoption of a section of highway. Sue discussed creating a Facebook Fan Page for the club in order to easily reach and interact with users.
4) Dana proposed, via Dennis Cerillo, a day or part of a day in which “more serious” shooters could shoot according to competitive shooting rules. The intent would be to offer a time when shooters seeking to advance his or her shooting skills could shoot according to competitive shooting expectations.
Some expressed that this would cut into the time that the majority of people have to shoot and it could also interfere with availability to the commercial users.
The topic was tabled until a later date.
Meeting adjourned 8:15
